Plan Joran Gondola
The Plan Joran gondola runs from the Grand Montets ground station (1252m) near Argentiere to Plan Joran (2134) on the Montagne de Lognan. A fire in September 2018 destroyed the old mid station of the Grand Montets area thereby disabling the Lognan Cable car. Plans are underway to rebuild this old route which used to go all the way to the Grand Montets summit. For now the Plan Joran gondola remains the only way to reach the Montagne de Lognan. The Glacier d'Argentiere is one of the main attractions of the Montagne de Lognan with trails running parallel to the glacier and providing multiple viewing points. The Chalet Refuge de Lognan is an excellent jump of point for those trails.
The Grand Montets ground station has a ticket office where you can buy tickets directly on the same day. For exact operating dates, ticket prices and to buy your tickets online, visit the official website.
A chalet hotel was built on the Montagne de Lognan in 1905. In 1924 a cable car was opened. The two stage cable that used to run from the ground station to Lognan and then onwards to the Grand Montets was finished in 1962. For a ton more historical and technical information about this lift, you can visit the French Remontee-Mechanique website.
