Planpraz Gondola
The Planpraz Gondola is a 8-seater gondola that runs from Chamonix (1090m) to Le Planpraz (1979m). From the midstation at Planpraz you can connect to the Brevent Cable car which takes you up the Brevent Summit at an altitude of 2525m. The Planpraz midstation looks out southward towards the Mont Blanc Massif and has some excellent views of Mont Blanc seeing how its directly across from it. The La Bergerie restaurant and two snackbars are a few meters away from the midstation.
In winter, the gondola leads to the start of the Brevent ski area. In summer, it is open from mid June to mid September. Children below 1 years old are not allowed to ride the gondola. There is a ticket office at the ground station where you can buy your ticket directly before departure. For exact operating dates, ticket prices and to buy your tickets online, visit the official website.
This gondola was first built in 1928 but was then replaced in 1979. The current 8 seater gondola was installed in 2008 but still uses many of the original concrete pilons of the original lift. For a ton more historical and technical information about this lift, you can visit the French Remontee-Mechanique website.
